Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.
Over the past five years, I’ve met an incredible woman, survived lockdown and furlough, gotten engaged, and married her. During this time, we’ve had a little boy who is now three, and we’ve begun creating our own traditions, drawing inspiration from our family ones.
I’ll start with our long-standing Christmas tradition: every year, we cook two or three different hams on Christmas Eve and enjoy them that night. The leftovers are then eaten over the next few days, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
On pizza night, we often get a ready-made one for my wife, though sometimes she makes hers from scratch, while I prepare a base to customise with my favourite toppings.
As Ollie gets older, we are starting to make Sunday roast a tradition, as he absolutely loves it and takes after me in eating far too many roast potatoes.
As time passes, I have a feeling the number of traditions will only continue to grow. I can’t wait to see how they develop.
