Embracing Change: The Journey to Self-Discovery

Daily writing prompt
What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

If you’d asked me this a decade ago, I’d have probably given some cliché about learning from mistakes. But looking back, the last six or seven years have shaped me more than anything.

Divorce wasn’t in the plan, but life had other ideas. Suddenly, I was in a house share, living on my own terms for the first time in years. And honestly? It was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

That house wasn’t just a place to crash—it became a home. The people there were incredible, and I made some of the best friends I’ve ever had. We laughed, we had each other’s backs, and we made memories I’ll never forget. It wasn’t always easy, but it was exactly what I needed.

Then I met Helen. For the first time, I didn’t have to pretend to be anything other than myself. No overthinking, no walking on eggshells—just me. And she loved me for it.

That kind of love is rare, and it changes you. It makes you realise you don’t have to fit into someone else’s expectations. You can just be, and that’s enough.

Looking back, those years weren’t always fun. They were messy, emotional, and full of change. But they led me to where I am now—happily married, surrounded by love, and more confident in who I am.

The hardest moments push you the most. And weirdly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
