Honestly? With equal parts enthusiasm and mild panic.
Social media has become a bit like my digital diary—except instead of locking it away, I shout into the void and hope someone out there nods in agreement (or at least laughs with me, not at me). I use it to share my gluten-free life: the good meals, the bad meals, and the occasional “I can’t believe I almost ate a dog treat” kind of moment.
But I’m also trying to put a different spin on what it means to live gluten-free. Let’s face it—if we take it too seriously, it can get pretty miserable. So I choose to look at it through a more light-hearted lens. It’s not about ignoring the tough stuff (like cross-contamination nightmares or restaurant roulette), but about finding the humour in it all. Because if we don’t laugh about it, we’ll probably just end up crying into a very dry, overpriced loaf of gluten-free bread.
I use social media to connect with other coeliacs, swap survival stories, share the highs, and poke fun at the lows. It’s also a space where I try to remind people that yes, this lifestyle can be frustrating—but it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. There’s still joy to be found, even if you have to bring your own snacks to the party.
