Great News! What’s the First Thing You Do?

A close-up photograph of two people toasting with champagne flutes filled with sparkling rosé wine. One hand appears darker in complexion, while the other is lighter, suggesting diversity. The glasses clink together, with one decorated with a gold tinsel-like ornament. The background is blurred with glowing bokeh lights, creating a festive and celebratory atmosphere.

Daily writing prompt
You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

You know that feeling when you get amazing news? The kind that makes your heart race and your brain go, “Wait… is this real?”

For me, the first reaction is usually stunned silence, followed by a ridiculous happy dance (or at least a fist pump if I’m trying to play it cool). Then, I tell someone—my wife, my 3 year old son (who would probably give me a high five whatever the news was) family and friends. Good news is always better when shared!

Once the excitement settles, my brain flips into what now mode—figuring out next steps. But before I get too serious, I make sure to celebrate properly—whether that’s a fancy coffee, a nice meal, or just taking a moment to soak it all in.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
