Daily Cooking Experiments: What I Wish I Could Do More

Daily writing prompt
What do you wish you could do more every day?

If I could do one thing more every day, it would be experimenting with cooking. Not just the usual meals — I’m talking about trying new combinations that sound a bit odd but somehow work. The kind of things that make you raise an eyebrow but leave you pleasantly surprised after the first bite.

The trouble is, experimenting with food takes time and money — two things that aren’t exactly in abundance most days. Gluten-free ingredients aren’t cheap, and when life’s busy, it’s easy to stick to the tried and tested. But when I do get the chance to play around in the kitchen, it’s so satisfying. Like when I realised that peanut butter and bacon actually make a great combo — don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

One day, I’d love to have more time (and a bigger food budget) to really lean into that creative side of cooking. Until then, I’ll keep sneaking in those little experiments when I can — and hoping they don’t end up in the bin.

Hopefully, through this blog, I can share as many of those unique recipes as possible. Whether they’re surprising hits or hilarious misses, I’m looking forward to exploring new flavours and combinations — and hopefully inspiring a few of you to try something different too.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
