“Do one thing every day that scares you.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
I’ve always liked this quote. Not because I live it flawlessly—far from it. Some days, the scariest thing I do is open my laptop to check how many work emails are waiting for me. But there’s something quietly brilliant about choosing to push yourself, even when your brain is screaming, “Absolutely not.”
For me, the scary things haven’t been cliff dives or stand-up comedy. They’ve been:
Starting a gluten-free blog when I wasn’t sure anyone would care (or worse, they would).
Saying yes to speaking at a food festival when I’d rather have hidden under a table with some safe snacks.
Telling my story, even when it included misdiagnoses, skin rashes, and one wildly inaccurate theory about carrots.
Most days, I still hesitate. I still overthink (a lot). But then I remember this quote.
