Men Vs Gluten: Raising Awareness of Coeliac Disease in Men

Coeliac disease affects men too. But we rarely talk about it. That changes today.

I’m Ben, the face behind The Gf Table, and together with Sonny (@sonnythecoeliac), we’re proud to introduce Men Vs Gluten, a new cross-platform project created to:

  • Raise awareness of coeliac disease in men
  • Offer gluten free support to male coeliacs in the UK and beyond.
  • Create space for honest, relatable stories about living gluten free as a man
  • Encourage connection, collaboration, and community in a space that’s often overlooked

Why We Created Men Vs Gluten

Despite the growing number of gluten free blogs, support groups and food creators, there’s still a big gap when it comes to male visibility in the gluten free community.

Men often feel isolated after a coeliac diagnosis. Whether it’s the symptoms, the stigma, or the confusion around gluten free foods, it can be hard to find your voice in a space that doesn’t always reflect your experience.

With Men Vs Gluten, we want to flip that narrative.

What is Men Vs Gluten?

Men Vs Gluten is a collaborative initiative that shines a light on coeliac disease in men but it’s not just about us.

We’re building a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where everyone is welcome, especially:

  • Men navigating a new coeliac disease diagnosis
  • Partners, parents and friends supporting boys or men who are gluten free
  • UK-based male coeliac creators looking to collaborate and connect

How You Can Get Involved

We’re starting with Facebook, where you can follow our updates and join the conversation:

👉 Follow Men Vs Gluten on Facebook (Page)
👉 Join the Men Vs Gluten Community Group

You can also find us on Instagram, Threads, TikTok and YouTube all under the Men Vs Gluten banner. Expect food reviews, creator features, support threads, real-life rants, and a healthy dose of gluten free humour.

We’ll also be spotlighting voices from across the UK coeliac community, especially those often left out of the gluten free conversation.

Who Are We?

👤 Ben Haggerty – Coeliac, foodie, and blogger behind The GF Table, known for gluten free food reviews, recipes, and irreverent honesty.

👤 Sonny Wells – Better known as @sonnythecoeliac, he’s a familiar face on Instagram, sharing day-to-day coeliac life with honesty and humour.

Together, we’re building Men Vs Gluten not as a brand but as a platform for connection. If you’re a coeliac man, a parent of a gluten free child, or a brand that supports coeliac awareness, we want to hear from you.

Why This Matters

Coeliac disease doesn’t discriminate but public perception often does.

By creating a visible, vocal, and unapologetically male-led gluten free space, we’re:

  • ✅ Promoting coeliac disease awareness in men
  • ✅ Addressing the emotional impact of going gluten free for men in particular.
  • ✅ Encouraging more open, public conversations about diagnosis, symptoms and lifestyle
  • ✅ Creating a network of gluten free men who support each other, online and offline

This isn’t just about eating safely. It’s about being seen.

Final Thoughts

Coeliac disease in men needs more visibility and we’re stepping up.

Join us. Support us. Share this with the gluten free lads, dads, mates, sons and partners in your life.

If you’re a UK-based male coeliac content creator, drop us a message. We want to work with you.

And if you’re just looking for someone who gets it – pull up a (gluten free) chair. You’re in the right place.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
