Supporting the Gluten-Free Community in the UK: Local Events I’m Involved In

A collage of gluten-free baked goods displayed at a food event. The image features a variety of treats, including packaged tarts with coloured labels, cinnamon rolls in a plastic container, sugared doughnuts in a wicker basket, and an assortment of chocolate fudge in a clear display case. Other sections of the collage show individually wrapped treats, a wooden rack holding small cakes, and a tray of gluten-free brownies with labels. The setup includes handwritten and printed signs indicating different flavours and dietary information.

What do you do to be involved in the community?

Since being diagnosed coeliac, I’ve realised just how powerful the gluten-free community can be—especially when we come together over good food and even better beer.

Right now, I’m helping to organise Gluten-Free Froth Fest 2025, a festival celebrating gluten-free beer and making sure no coeliac is left clinging to the cider section in despair. It’s shaping up to be something really special, and I’m proud to play a part in it.

I’m also loosely involved in the Gluten-Free Food Festival this June, which is being expertly run by Nicola Walpole. I’ll be doing a short talk and offering help behind the scenes if needed—but really, I’m just cheering Nicola on from the wings.

Looking ahead, I’d love to do more within the gluten-free space—whether that’s hosting events, helping others feel more confident navigating gluten-free life, or simply creating spaces where we can laugh, share, and eat safely.

One pint at a time, right?

There’s more where that came from, gluten free recipes 🍝, coeliac rants, symptom spirals 🤢 and food fails that should probably be reported to someone 🚨.

A bearded man with slicked-back dark hair and a maroon polo shirt smiling warmly while holding a grey mug of coffee towards the camera.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
