🎤 I’m Talking at the Gluten-Free Festival This Sunday (And Slightly Freaking Out)

A display of gluten-free baked goods at a food event, featuring sugar-coated doughnuts in wicker baskets and cinnamon rolls with icing in a plastic container. A vendor wearing blue gloves is using tongs to pick up a doughnut.

This Sunday is the Northamptonshire Gluten-Free Food Festival at Chester House Estate — and I’ve somehow landed myself with doing a talk.

Safe to say, I’m not the picture of calm. Cue cards are everywhere, nerves are doing laps, and I keep wondering why Past Me thought this was a good idea. 😅

But I am excited. It’s shaping up to be an incredible day — packed with amazing food, brilliant people, and a real sense of gluten-free community. Massive shoutout to Nicola Walpole who’s worked so hard to make this whole thing happen. She’s pulled together something really special.

I’ve written a short post over on Substack if you fancy a behind-the-scenes ramble about what I’ll be talking about (and how I’m holding it together with coffee and blind optimism).

If you’re coming to the festival — come say hi! I’ll be the one clutching a stack of notes and hoping my brain doesn’t forget how to speak mid-sentence.

🧁 May contain humour. Definitely doesn’t contain gluten.

There’s more where that came from, gluten free recipes 🍝, coeliac rants, symptom spirals 🤢 and food fails that should probably be reported to someone 🚨.

Just noticed my favourite pie people are attending this event, Voakes from North Yorkshire. Try the Scotch eggs! I was lucky enough to taste test these before they launched. There is definitely a gap in the market for a decent GF snack or lunch option. As we will probably all have experienced, many GF sandwiches are naff.

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
