What are your favorite brands and why?

Being coeliac means I don’t just have favourite brands — I have trusted sidekicks. These are the ones that turn up when I need them, don’t let me down mid-meal, and make life that little bit easier (and tastier).

Here are a few I rely on, time and time again:

  1. The Bury Black Pudding Company – I didn’t think I’d ever eat black pudding again, and then these legends came along. It’s rich, properly seasoned, and actually stays in one piece when cooked. Honestly, it’s changed my breakfast game completely.
  2. Doves Farm (Freee) – Their flour mix is my baking safety net. Whether it’s pancakes, Yorkshire puds or a last-minute cake, it’s the one I trust not to fall apart or taste like cardboard. Big fan of their plain and self-raising blends.
  3. Rummo Gluten-Free Pasta – The texture is spot on. None of that claggy, falling-to-bits nonsense. It cooks like “normal” pasta and holds its own with anything from bolognese to a quick pesto stir-through. Proper comfort food.
  4. Warburtons Gluten Free – Let’s be honest, good gluten-free bread is hard to come by. But their tiger bloomer? Soft centre, actual crust, and no need to toast it within an inch of its life. That’s a win.
  5. Biona Organic Coconut Aminos – I switched to this instead of soy sauce and haven’t looked back. It’s got that lovely sweet-salty balance, and it actually adds depth to dishes without making them taste weird. I throw it in everything from stir-fries to salad dressings.

Bonus mentions:
Barilla Gluten-Free Pasta – Always easy to find, always dependable. I keep a stash in the cupboard for those days when I need dinner on the table fast and without drama. (Which is most days.)

Garofalo Gluten-Free Pasta – Honestly one of the best for texture. It cooks evenly, never clumps, and holds onto sauce like it was born to. Feels a bit fancy without the price tag.

I stick with these brands because they make gluten-free life feel a bit more normal. No crumbling. No panic-reading labels. Just solid food that tastes good.

Can’t find total ingredients list for pastas – and I’m maize as well as gluten/wheat intolerant – sigh!

Some of the earlier images on this site are AI-generated because, let’s be honest, I had neither the time nor the skills to snap Pinterest-worthy photos while juggling another job. But hey, practice makes progress! These days, I’m feeling much braver behind the camera. Happy reading (and judging my photos), everyone!
